Ravi Thanawala Moves From Papa John’s, Named CFO Of American Eagle Outfitters

PITTSBURGH, PA – American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) has named Ravi Thanawala as its Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective Aug. 3, 2026.
Thanawala will succeed Mike Mathias, who is transitioning to a full-time non-executive strategic advisor role after 25 years with the company. Mathias, who has served as CFO since 2020, will work alongside Thanawala through the remainder of fiscal 2026.

Thanawala most recently, served as Chief Financial Officer and President, North America at Papa John’s International after earlier serving as the company’s Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President, International. He also served as interim CEO in 2024.
Before joining Papa John’s, he was Chief Financial Officer of Nike North America and held senior finance and operations leadership roles at Converse and ANN Inc., where he oversaw finance, Asia operations, global logistics and international trade.
