Tulsi Gabbard Posts Emotional Video After Husband’s Rare Cancer Surgery

WASHINGTON, DC – Former Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has shared an update on her husband, Abraham Williams, saying he is progressing after undergoing surgery for a rare form of bone cancer and will need continued medical monitoring.
Williams was diagnosed earlier this year with a rare tumor called a sacral chordoma after experiencing back pain. The tumor was found on his tailbone.
In a social media post, Gabbard said Williams underwent an eight-hour surgery to remove the tumor. A few weeks later, doctors and pathologists told them they were confident they had removed all of the cancerous bone and tissue.
Williams has since been undergoing a rigorous physical therapy program. Gabbard said he sometimes gets frustrated because he wants to make progress faster and has occasionally pushed himself too far.
She said the couple decided to share the video after receiving messages from people asking how Williams was doing and offering prayers and well wishes.
Gabbard said Williams will need frequent MRI scans to check whether the cancer returns, either in the same place or in other parts of his body.
The diagnosis also played a role in Gabbard’s decision to leave her post as director of national intelligence.
