Sachin Jain’s SCAN Partners With Costco On Medicare Plans

WASHINGTON, DC – SCAN Group CEO and SCAN Health Plan CEO Dr. Sachin H. Jain is part of an expanded partnership between the nonprofit insurer and Costco Wholesale to offer Medicare plans to older adults.

The companies will offer Medicare Advantage products in two states and a Medicare supplement in a third, SCAN Health Plan said. They are also planning to work together on additional benefits, subject to regulatory approval.

The planned benefits include a new pharmacy experience, Medflex over-the-counter benefits, vision and audiology services, according to SCAN.

The partnership marks Costco’s first comprehensive partnership with a Medicare plan, SCAN Group said. The Wall Street Journal reported that Costco was preparing a limited rollout of Costco-branded Medicare plans through its partnership with SCAN Group.

“For the millions of older adults who rely on Medicare Advantage, the future of the program depends on strong partnerships that make healthcare more accessible, more connected and more seamlessly integrated into everyday life,” Jain said.

“Older adults want healthcare that is easier to navigate, more responsive to their needs and rooted in organizations they trust,” he said. Jain added that the expanded partnership with Costco would provide a foundation to explore new ways to help people stay healthy and independent while delivering the quality, value and service both organizations are known for.

SCAN Health Plan currently offers Medicare Advantage plans in six states. Its plans serve nearly 460,000 members across 33 counties in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, New Mexico and Washington.

Jain worked in leadership roles at the US Department of Health and Human Services, where he was Senior Advisor to the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

Jain graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College with a BA in government and earned his MD from Harvard Medical School and MBA from Harvard Business School.
