Ashok Patnaik Announces Candidacy For Cerritos City Council

CERRITOS, CA- Patnaik has announced his candidacy for Cerritos City Council in the March 2, 2027 election.

Patnaik has served as a City of Cerritos commissioner since 2010. He has also been a member of the Cerritos College Bond Measures Committee since 2018.

He has served with the Cerritos and Artesia Chambers of Commerce and is the founder and president of the United Federation of Indo-Americans in Southern California, which organizes India Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations.

Patnaik holds a mechanical engineering degree from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, India, and an MBA from Pepperdine University.

His engineering career included manufacturing, management, project management and building aftermarket centers before he moved into banking. He has spent the past two decades working with businesses and entrepreneurs.

As a vice president and commercial lending officer, Patnaik said he helped businesses secure financing to expand, create jobs and invest in the local economy.

In announcing his candidacy, Patnaik said he would focus on bringing people together, solving problems and planning for the future.

The election is primarily conducted by mail, with ballots expected to begin arriving about a month before Election Day.
