Krishna Das Set For India Tour With Devotional Chant Concerts

NEW DELHI – Grammy-nominated kirtan artist Krishna Das, hailed as the “chant master of American Yoga,” is set to tour India for a series of devotional chant performances. His upcoming tour, the first in over a year, will take him to three major Indian cities.

The tour will begin on October 31 in New Delhi. He will then perform in Mumbai and Bengaluru.

Krishna Das, who received his first Grammy nomination in 2012 for his album ‘Live Ananda’, has a storied musical background that includes working with legends like Rick Rubin and Sting. He began his career as a frontman for the band Soft White Underbelly in the late 1960s before traveling to India in 1970 and becoming a follower of spiritual teacher Neem Karoli Baba. His music has since become a prominent part of the global yoga movement.

According to organizers, the primary kirtan performances will last about 2.5 hours, focusing on collective chanting of sacred mantras. “The events will seamlessly blend traditional Hindu devotional music with Western harmonic sensibilities, cultivating an atmosphere conducive to deep connection and meditation,” a press release from the organizers stated.

Krishna Das described the upcoming tour as a “profound experience.” “The devotion and receptivity of the audiences here are unparalleled,” he said. “My hope is that these chants and workshops will offer a space for everyone to connect more deeply with their own hearts, to find that inner peace and joy that is always available.” (ANI)
