SCHAUMBURG, IL — Palm Bay, Florida, City Council Member Chandler Langevin launched a racist tirade against Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, calling him a “foreign occupier” and mocking his Indian heritage after the Illinois Democrat condemned Langevin’s earlier remarks urging the mass deportation of Indian immigrants.

Langevin, in a sign of the times, strove to remain in the news and posted: “Cantina ‘Congressman’ Rajesh Koothrapali (@CongressmanRaja) should be more worried about the fact that his party of foreign invaders is preventing my brothers from getting paid… or more worried about his failed state of Illinois… than what a City Councilman over a thousand miles away is doing.”

He referred to the Congressman as a “foreign occupier,” intensifying the backlash already brewing over his earlier anti-Indian rhetoric. He mocked Rep. Krishnamoorthi’s name as “unpronounceable” and his country of origin as being “Tatooine”, the fictional desert planet from the ‘Star Wars’ franchise.

Krishnamoorthi denounced the remarks, saying, “It’s telling that rather than apologizing for calling for the mass deportation of Indian Americans, Mr. Langevin chose to double down with racist mockery. I was born in India, raised in Peoria, and elected by the people of Illinois—there’s nothing ‘foreig

n’ about standing up for my fellow Americans. Hate may be loud, but it will never drown out the values of decency and democracy that unite us.”

The exchange followed Krishnamoorthi’s earlier condemnation of Langevin’s inflammatory posts from late September, in which the Florida councilman wrote, “Deport every Indian immediately,” followed by, “There’s not a single Indian that cares about the United States,” and, “Palm Bay will not become Dallas or Dearborn.” Langevin also reposted content claiming that “Indian migration has to cease immediately” and that “INDIA is having its people INVADE OUR COUNTRY.”

Krishnamoorthi had called the remarks “unacceptable—and dangerous,” warning that such rhetoric “echoes the cruelty of Donald Trump’s mass ICE raids and fuels a climate of fear that harms families across our nation.” He added, “When hate speech is normalized and communities are scapegoated, our democracy is weakened. We must stand together across every community against all forms of hate.”

Following widespread condemnation, Palm Bay Mayor Rob Medina added a motion to consider Langevin’s removal from the city council, which was approved on October 2.

  • What about American Exceptionalism? I will like to ask this man: How will Lord Christ think of killing hundreds of native American people, stealing their land and then shoving them in the worst possible land called reservations?

  • Indians are arguing about Native Red Indians who were victims in past. Story of 150 years ago, does not help in 2025. Indians they give-up their nationality to become Citizen of USA, but they are not faithful to USA, they are just after US $’s. Deportations of Indians is the best for USA. Illegals should be first to be deported ASAP,

  • Chandler Langevin is a clown. If he were in a circus, no one would laugh at him, because he is so serious. The best response for all Indo-Americans is to boycott all economic transactions and gifts to Florida charities, political donations, and local businesses until such time that Floridians realize the power of the Indo-American middle class.
