Ro Khanna Condemns Fuentes’ Attacks On Vivek Ramaswamy, Usha Vance

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Ro Khanna (D-CA) has strongly condemned far-right commentator Nick Fuentes for what he described as “chilling” anti-Indian and anti-Hindu rhetoric targeting Indian American leaders Vivek Ramaswamy and Second Lady Usha Vance.

Khanna spoke out after Fuentes attacked Ramaswamy’s Hindu faith and Indian heritage, framing it as a political message aimed at Vice President JD Vance.  Khanna said Fuentes’ remarks reflected dangerous bigotry. “Nick, your campaigning against Vivek Ramaswamy because he is Hindu and of Indian heritage to send a message to JD Vance in 2028 is chilling. I reject your bigotry against Vivek and Usha Vance,” Khanna wrote. He added that many Hindu Americans, including his own family, celebrate Christmas, ending the message with “Merry Christmas.”

Fuentes had claimed in a recent speech that if Ramaswamy were elected Governor of Ohio, there would be no Christmas celebrations at the governor’s residence, alleging instead that Diwali would be observed.

The controversy is part of a broader pattern of attacks by Fuentes against Indian American public figures. He has repeatedly referred to Ramaswamy as an “anchor baby” and argued that Ramaswamy should be barred from becoming Ohio governor because he is not Christian.

Fuentes has also targeted Second Lady Usha Vance with racial abuse referencing her Indian origin. Ramaswamy defended her and by stating that Fuentes “does not represent America,” a remark that further inflamed sections of the MAGA-aligned far right.

Fuentes later claimed that defeating Ramaswamy in the 2026 Ohio governor’s race would serve as a warning to Vice President JD Vance ahead of the 2028 presidential election.

  • Many Kudos to Congressman Ro Khanna for defending the Constitution and the people of all faiths to practice their religion of choice and freely participate in all political and social activities, as protected by the protections granted to them in our Constitution. The MAGA policies and practices are antithetical to the democratic principles and the founding of a free society.
