CINCINNATI, OH – A new survey highlights an increasingly competitive race for Ohio governor, with Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and Democrat Amy Acton separated by just one percentage point.

The poll, conducted by Bowling Green State University, found Ramaswamy with 48 percent support among registered voters, compared to 47 percent for Acton, underscoring a tight contest less than six months before Election Day, The Hill reported. Another 5 percent of respondents said they plan to support a different candidate. The survey included 1,000 registered voters and carries a margin of error of 3.9 percentage points.

The poll showed more than three quarters of Republican primary voters favor Ramaswamy as their nominee. His campaign has also drawn endorsements from high profile figures including President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.

On the Democratic side, Acton is running unopposed in the primary. She previously served as director of the Ohio Department of Health under Republican Governor Mike DeWine and gained statewide recognition during the COVID 19 pandemic, The Hill noted. Ohio’s primary election is scheduled for May 5, with early in person voting already underway.

Both candidates have begun sharpening their campaign messages as the general election approaches. Ramaswamy has emphasized economic themes such as lowering costs, raising wages, and improving education. Acton has also kept her focus on costs and addressing what she described as corruption in state government.
