NEW DELHI – Podcaster and computer scientist Lex Fridman revealed that he fasted for 45 hours, consuming only water, before his interview with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This led Modi to share his own perspective on fasting, describing it as a disciplined, scientific process rooted in Ayurveda rather than mere abstinence from food.

“Fasting enhances mental clarity, sharpens the senses, and strengthens discipline. It’s not just about skipping meals; it’s a way to balance the body and mind,” Modi explained. He highlighted how fasting heightens sensory perception, accelerates thought processes, and fosters introspection.

The Prime Minister also detailed his personal approach, emphasizing the importance of preparing the body in advance through hydration, Ayurvedic practices, and yoga. Rather than causing fatigue, he said fasting energizes him, allowing him to work even harder.

“For me, fasting is an act of devotion and self-discipline. It’s a deeply transformative experience—not something I adopted from books or tradition, but from personal realization,” he added.
