AAP Leader’s Daughter Found Dead On Canada Beach

OTTAWA (ANI)- The death of Vanshika, a 21-year-old student from Dera Bassi, Punjab, has sparked grief and suspicion after her body was found under mysterious circumstances on a beach near Ottawa, Canada.

Her father, Aam Aadmi Party leader Davinder Saini—also a close aide of MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa—has alleged possible foul play and is demanding a thorough investigation.

Vanshika had moved to Ottawa two and a half years ago after completing her 12th-grade exams and was pursuing a two-year course. She had recently started working part-time and had just appeared for her final examination on April 18.

“My daughter went to Canada in 2023 to build a better future. I last spoke to her on April 22 when she was heading to work. On the morning of April 26, I was informed that she had gone missing. She was also preparing for the IELTS exam, which was scheduled for April 26,” Saini  said.

One of Vanshika’s friends, who was also appearing for the IELTS exam, repeatedly tried to contact her but received no response. When she visited Vanshika’s residence after the exam, she discovered that Vanshika had been missing since April 22.

Concerned friends and family began a widespread search, enlisting the help of local authorities and Members of Parliament in Canada. Tragically, Vanshika’s body was later discovered on a beach.

Saini emphasized the need for swift action by both Indian and Canadian authorities. “We want the Indian government to ensure her body is brought back quickly and a proper investigation is conducted,” he said.

The High Commission of India in Ottawa acknowledged the incident in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating,

“We are deeply saddened to be informed of the death of Vanshika, student from India in Ottawa. The matter has been taken up with concerned authorities and the cause is under investigation as per local police. We are in close contact with the bereaved kin and local community associations to provide all possible assistance.”
