WASHINGTON, DC – Representatives of Indian billionaire Gautam Adani have held meetings with officials from President Donald Trump’s administration, to find a way to dismiss criminal charges against him in the bribery case.

According to a Bloomberg News report published on May 4,  a resolution could be reached within a month if talks continue to progress.

The charges stem from a November indictment by U.S. authorities, which accused Adani and his nephew, Sagar Adani, of bribing officials to secure energy supply contracts and misleading American investors during fundraising efforts.

Specifically, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) alleged that the Adanis provided false compliance information during a $750 million bond issuance by Adani Green Energy in the United States.

Sources cited by Bloomberg say Adani’s representatives are attempting to argue that pursuing the case does not align with the priorities of Trump’s administration and should be reconsidered. The discussions reportedly began earlier this year and have gained momentum in recent weeks.

Since the indictment was announced, the Adani Group has lost roughly $13 billion in market capitalization across its nine publicly listed companies, Reuters reported.
