Air India Secures Top-5 Spot In Global Punctuality Rankings

NEW YORK, NY-Air India has secured the fourth spot among the world’s most punctual airlines for June 2026, according to the latest On-Time Performance report by aviation analytics firm Cirium, highlighting the carrier’s continued efforts to improve operational reliability.

Cirium tracked 15,135 Air India flights during the month and found that 86.85 percent arrived on time. The airline also posted an on-time departure rate of 86.23 percent, while 99.7 percent of scheduled flights operated as planned.

To improve consistency, the airline said it has focused on reducing delays by speeding up aircraft turnaround times, improving real-time monitoring of flight operations and enabling quicker operational decisions. 

Passengers flying from New York-JFK and Newark travel on Air India’s Airbus A350-900 and upgraded Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which feature improved cabins and onboard amenities. 

Beginning August 1, 2026, the airline will also introduce its new Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the Toronto-Delhi route, bringing its latest cabin products in Business, Premium Economy and Economy to the Canadian market.

By the end of 2026, Air India expects more than half of its widebody fleet to feature either new or refurbished cabins, expanding the upgraded onboard experience across more of its long-haul routes, it said.

Air India and Air India Express together operate more than 300 aircraft, serving 60 domestic and 51 international destinations. Since returning to the Tata Group in 2022, the airline has been implementing its five-year Vihaan.AI transformation program, focused on fleet renewal, aircraft upgrades, operational improvements and enhancing the overall customer experience.
