‘Band of Maharajas’ Makes Oscar Reminder List, Director Girish Malik Elated
LOS ANGELES, CA (ANI) – The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recently unveiled its “reminder list,” which includes director Girish Malik’s film Band of Maharajas. Films featured on this list are eligible for voting by Oscar members and stand a chance to secure nominations.
Expressing his excitement, Girish Malik said: “It’s a big thing to reach here and receive this kind of validation from the Oscars. I know it’s not an easy journey… there are so many films competing against each other. Fingers crossed. Let’s see what happens next.”
Producer Puneet Singh and actor Navraj Hans also shared their enthusiasm. Puneet Singh commented: “Girish is an extraordinary talent and a cherished friend. I have always believed in the stories he tells through his films. We are ecstatic that Band of Maharajas is finally getting the recognition it deserves and is now featured on the Academy’s website.”
Written and directed by Girish Malik, Band of Maharajas is a musical that highlights how music transcends borders and unites diverse cultures.
The film has entered the eligibility list for the Best Picture category at the Academy Awards, alongside other Indian films such as Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life, Girls Will Be Girls, Santosh, All We Imagine as Light, Putul, and Swatantriya Veer Savarkar.
It is important to note that the reminder list includes films eligible to compete in various categories, but inclusion on the list does not guarantee progression to the final nominations.
Meanwhile, in response to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, the Academy has extended the Oscar nomination voting window. Voting, which began on January 8, was initially scheduled to close on January 12 but has been extended to January 14. Additionally, the nominations announcement, originally set for January 17, has been rescheduled for January 19.
