WASHINGTON, DC – Former Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal is one of five candidates being considered for the position of U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) under a potential second Trump administration, according to a report by Politico. Jindal, who has extensive experience in healthcare policy and administration, joins a shortlist of names for the role.

Jindal, who himself had presidential ambitions and ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, initially was critical of Trump but has since fallen in line and become a defender.

He now chairs the Center for a Healthy America, a branch of the Trump-aligned America First Policy Institute. Politico noted that Jindal was a leading contender for the HHS post during Trump’s first term. His alignment with Trump’s healthcare views, particularly on issues like Medicare, has made him a prominent figure in conservative policy discussions.

In a recent video released by the America First Policy Institute, Jindal criticized Vice President Kamala Harris’ Medicare plan, claiming it would extend “gold-plated” healthcare benefits to 12 million undocumented immigrants. “It will flood the U.S. with more illegal immigrants,” Jindal said, urging people not to “fall for the lies.”

Jindal has been an assistant secretary in the Department of Health and Human Services during George W. Bush’s presidency.
