Businessman Mansinh Chaudhari Pleads Guilty To Medicare Fraud
India-West Staff Reporter
NEWYORK, NY – A NY based businessman has admitted to his involvement in a major health care fraud and kickback conspiracy, U.S. Attorney Vikas Khanna announced.
Mansinh Chaudhari, 55, of Illinois, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Michael E. Farbiarz in Newark federal court to charges of conspiring to commit health care fraud and violating the Federal Anti-Kickback Statute.
According to court documents and statements made during the hearing, Chaudhari owned and operated a consulting company based in New York. The company purchased Medicare beneficiary information, effectively guaranteeing that Medicare would reimburse for COVID-19 tests. Chaudhari then sold this information to medical providers in states including New Jersey, Tennessee, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and others.
These providers used the information to submit fraudulent Medicare claims for up to eight over-the-counter COVID-19 tests per month, which beneficiaries neither needed nor had ordered.
Chaudhari and the medical providers involved attempted to cover up their illicit activities by creating fake agreements and issuing fraudulent invoices for services such as marketing, consulting, and fulfillment. In total, the scheme led to a loss of more than $5.3 million to Medicare.
The charge of conspiracy to commit health care fraud carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, while the conspiracy to violate the Federal Anti-Kickback Statute can result in up to five years in prison. Each charge is also subject to a $250,000 fine or twice the gross gain or loss from the offense, whichever is greater. Chaudhari’s sentencing is scheduled for April 29.

Not trying to condone any crime, but look at what Rick Scott did:
“ During his tenure as chief executive, the company defrauded Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal programs. The U.S. Department of Justice won 14 felony convictions against the company, which was fined $1.7 billion in what was at the time the largest healthcare fraud settlement in U.S. history.”
And now he is the Senator from Florida.
