Folsom City Council Candidate Gets Support Of Hindu Groups

FOLSOM, CA – Engineer and community leader Jag Nagendra is seeking the District 3 seat on the Folsom City Council, campaigning on a platform centered on fiscal sustainability, public safety, economic development, transparent governance, inclusive leadership, and rebuilding trust between residents and City Hall.

His campaign recently received endorsements from the Hindu American Political Action Committee and Americans 4 Hindus, backing his bid in the nonpartisan election.

Nagendra brings more than 15 years of experience serving nonprofit organizations, government commissions, professional boards, and civic groups. He immigrated to the US in 2000 and currently serves in a senior leadership role with the California Department of Water Resources, where he helps oversee technology systems supporting California’s State Water Project.

Beyond his professional career, Nagendra has served on the City of Davis Business and Economic Development Commission and has mentored entrepreneurs and young professionals through civic and professional organizations.

Nagendra said his campaign is an extension of a lifetime of community service. “Public service isn’t something that begins on Election Day. It begins the day you decide to make your community better, one person and one opportunity at a time,” he said.

Nagendra said he hopes his candidacy inspires more Indian Americans to become involved in their communities by volunteering, serving on public boards, mentoring others, and eventually seeking public office.

The Folsom City Council election is scheduled for November 3.
