Community Rallies To Support Young Adiryan Arvind After Tragic Car Crash Claims Family
India-West News Desk
AUSTIN, TX – A GoFundMe campaign has garnered significant support for 14-year-old Adiryan Arvind, who tragically lost his family in a devastating car crash on August 14. The campaign, initiated by family friend Rajaraman Venkatachalam, has raised over $700,000 as of August 16, surpassing its initial goal of $250,000. The funds aim to assist Adiryan with funeral, legal, and educational expenses as he navigates life with his uncle’s family in Austin.
The accident occurred early Wednesday morning as Arvind Mani, 45, and Pradeepa Arvind, 40, were driving from Leander on U.S. Highway 281 to move their 17-year-old daughter, Andril, into her dorm for her first year at the University of Texas, Dallas. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported that a southbound 2004 Cadillac CTS, driven by 31-year-old Jacinto Gudino Duran of Copperas Cove, experienced a rear tire blowout. This caused the vehicle to veer into oncoming northbound traffic, colliding with the Arvind family’s 2024 Kia Telluride.
The collision, which occurred just before 6 a.m. in Lampasas County, resulted in the deaths of all five individuals involved. The passengers in the Cadillac were identified as Duran and 23-year-old Yosilu Gasman Martinez, also from Copperas Cove.
Arvind and Pradeepa Arvind were cherished members of the Austin Indian American community, and their loss has deeply affected many. Andril, who had recently celebrated her admission to UTD to study computer science, was also among those who perished. Adiryan, who had just started ninth grade, was not present on the trip and is now left to rebuild his life with the support of his community.
