MUMBAI – A Mumbai court has re-issued a bailable warrant against actor Malaika Arora for failing to appear as a witness in a 2012 case involving Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan and the alleged assault of an NRI businessman at a luxury hotel.

Arora was among a group dining with Khan at the time of the incident in 2012, which allegedly escalated into a physical altercation with businessman Iqbal Mir Sharma.

Chief Judicial Magistrate K.S. Zanwar at the Esplanade court is currently recording witness testimonies in the case that has been going on for a decade. The court had initially issued a bailable warrant against Arora on February 15. It was re-issued on April 8 after her continued absence. The next hearing is scheduled for April 29.

According to police, Sharma objected to the loud behavior of Khan’s group, prompting a heated exchange. Khan allegedly assaulted Sharma, fracturing his nose, and Sharma also claimed that his father-in-law, Raman Patel, was injured during the scuffle.

Saif Ali Khan, along with co-accused Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi, was arrested shortly after the incident and later released on bail.

Khan has denied the allegations, stating that Sharma made provocative and abusive remarks toward the women in the group, which included Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Malaika Arora, and Amrita Arora.
