Daleep Singh To Return To White House
India-West News Desk
WASHINGTON, DC – Reports from various media outlets reveal that Daleep Singh, a pivotal figure behind the Biden administration’s economic sanctions on Russia, is set to rejoin the White House. Singh is slated to assume the role of deputy national security adviser for international economics, succeeding Mike Pyle, who will leave at the end of the month.
Singh’s return to the White House is garnering attention in light of the $95 billion foreign aid package for Ukraine, currently stalled in Congress. With an eye on exploring options that do not require Congressional approval, officials are considering leveraging Russia’s frozen sovereign assets, predominantly held in Europe, as collateral for loans to Ukraine, Axios said.
This idea, recently proposed by Belgium to G7 countries, was actually outlined by Singh in Barron’s article in December 2022. G7 leaders are scheduled to convene in Italy in June, followed by the G20 summit in November in Brazil.
