Indian American Social Club Commemorates India’s I-Day

ORANGE, CA – The Indian American Social Club (IASC) held a celebration for India’s Independence Day on August 3 at the Tandoor Banquet Hall, here. The event featured music, dance, and speeches honoring the nation’s freedom fighters.

Local dignitaries and Kulvant Singh from the Indian consulate opened the ceremony by lighting a ceremonial lamp. Students from Uthra Rajamani’s music school sang both the American and Indian national anthems.

The evening began with a peace march led by Sudha and Sharad Patel, who were dressed as Mahatma Gandhi and Kasturbai Gandhi. The march, which included many attendees, honored the freedom struggle and the leaders who fought for independence.

Kamini Khare who leads IASC, delivered a speech on the four pillars of democracy, highlighting the crucial roles of the judiciary and the media in protecting freedom and justice.

The event featured patriotic, Bollywood, and folk songs performed by professional and amateur singers. A slew of dance performances a presentation by young children titled ‘Nana Munna Rahi,’ choreographed by Dr. Sinduri also strove to capture patriotism.
