SEATTLE, WA – Seattle University School of Law has announced a new endowed scholarship aimed at expanding access to global legal education and strengthening cross border legal dialogue.
The Mehta Wahi Scholarship, established through a gift from Pallavi Mehta Wahi and Ash Wahi, will support an incoming LLM student with a demonstrated interest in South Asia related legal, social, or policy issues. The scholarship is intended for internationally trained lawyers pursuing advanced legal study at Seattle University.
Dean Anthony E. Varona said the scholarship reflects a broader commitment to inclusion and global engagement within the legal profession.
The scholarship will be administered in partnership with the Roundglass India Center, which works across the university to deepen teaching, research, and engagement related to India and the Indian diaspora. The center was founded in 2023 by Professor Sital Kalantry with support from the Roundglass Foundation and supports faculty scholarship, student exchange, and dialogue on India and Indian American issues.
Kalantry, a professor of law and the founding director of the center, said scholarships play a critical role not only for students but for the intellectual life of the institution.
“By supporting an LLM student focused on South Asia-related legal and policy issues, Pallavi and Ash are advancing meaningful cross-border dialogue and strengthening ties between legal communities,” she said.
The university’s LLM program is designed to provide internationally trained lawyers with a foundation in U.S. law while fostering broader global legal understanding.
