DUBAI (ANI)- India’s wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul reached a significant milestone by surpassing the 3000-run mark in ODIs, bringing him close to overtaking the records of Indian cricket legends Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar.

Rahul played a crucial role in India’s 265-run chase against Australia in the semi-final, scoring an unbeaten 42 off 34 deliveries. During his innings in Dubai, he crossed the 3000-run milestone as India secured its place in the final.

In 84 ODIs, Rahul has amassed 3,009 runs at an impressive average of 48.53 and a strike rate of 88.03, including seven centuries and 18 fifties. He is now just 84 runs away from surpassing Sunil Gavaskar’s ODI tally of 3,092 runs.

Rahul sealed India’s four-wicket victory in style, launching the ball into the stands over wide long-on. He continues his stellar form in ICC ODI tournaments, having scored 919 runs in 24 matches at an outstanding average of 61.26, with two centuries and four fifties.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli set multiple records during the match. He delivered yet another chase masterclass on a challenging surface, scoring 84 off 98 balls. This was his 24th fifty-plus score in ICC ODI tournaments, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s 23 in 58 innings.

In ICC ODI tournaments, Kohli has accumulated 2,541 runs at an average of 65.15, with six centuries and 18 fifties, trailing Tendulkar’s tally of 2,719 runs at an average of 52.28, which includes seven centuries and 16 fifties.

Kohli also became the first player to complete 1,000 runs in knockout matches across all ICC competitions, including the Cricket World Cup, T20 World Cup, World Test Championship, and Champions Trophy. Across these knockout matches, he has scored 1,023 runs at an average of 53.84, with a century and nine fifties.
