Met Gala 2025 Dress Code Announced. It’s Personal

NEW YORK, NY – The dress code for the 2025 Met Gala has been announced, focusing on menswear.
On February 4, Vogue and the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute unveiled this year’s dress code, “Tailored For You,” along with the event’s host committee.
The theme, announced in October, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” centers on sartorial fashion in shaping Black identities, particularly the “Black dandy” aesthetic explored in Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. Miller’s research, which inspired the upcoming Costume Institute exhibit, examines how Black men have used style to transform identities and imagine new political and social possibilities.
While the exhibit pays homage to menswear, the “Tailored For You” dress code is designed to offer both guidance and creative interpretation for attendees.
The Met Gala, chaired by Anna Wintour since 1995, will return to The Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 5.
LeBron James will serve as an honorary co-chair, with Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, and Lewis Hamilton as co-chairs. Wintour will also return as co-chair.
