Mindy Kaling Says Writing ‘Legally Blonde 3’ is Intimidating

LOS ANGELES, CA – Indian American Mindy Kaling is a star and can seemingly do no wrong! But even she has her fears.
One of the projects keeping her busy is the writing of the screenplay for the third ‘Legally Blonde’ film. She is working with ‘Parks and Recreation’ alum Dan Goor. “I think it’s an intimidating project for us to work on,” she said with a laugh in a recent interview with TODAY.
Readers will remember that the hit 2001 rom-com, starred Reese Witherspoon, as sorority girl Elle Woods who tries to save her romantic relationship by following her boyfriend to Harvard Law School. The sequel showed Woods in Washington, making a difference while working for a congresswoman.
“You know, it’s one of those projects where it takes longer than other things because we just don’t want to mess it up. The character is so beloved,” said Kaling to TODAY, adding she had traveled with Witherspoon to New Zealand, and seen fans walking up to her quoting lines from the films.
The third film, Kaling, without giving any details, said in the interview, will focus on Witherspoon’s upbeat, pink-loving Woods in the present day.
