WASHINGTON DC – World leaders extended congratulations to Donald Trump as he clinched victory, marking his return to the U.S. presidency with euphoria is some quarters and trepidation in others where policy shifts are likely to happen if Trump does follow up on his campaign utterances.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his heartfelt wishes, writing, “Heartiest congratulations my friend @realDonaldTrump on your historic election victory.” Modi added, “As you build on the successes of your previous term, I look forward to renewing our collaboration to strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership. Together, let’s work for the betterment of our people and to promote global peace, stability, and prosperity.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, expected to be among those most pleased with the result, hailed Trump’s win as “history’s greatest comeback,” remarking, “Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recalled their September meeting, highlighting Trump’s commitment to a “peace through strength” approach. “This is exactly the principle that can practically bring just peace in Ukraine closer,” Zelenskyy said, expressing hope for continued bipartisan U.S. support. He added that Ukraine was eager to develop “mutually beneficial political and economic cooperation” and strengthen the U.S.-Ukraine strategic partnership.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban celebrated the result, calling it “a much-needed victory for the World!” Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese reaffirmed the strong U.S.-Australia alliance in his message of congratulations.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, highlighting the close bond between the U.K. and the U.S., said he looked forward to working with Trump. Similarly, France’s President Emmanuel Macron noted, “Congratulations President Donald Trump. Ready to work together as we have done for four years. With your convictions and with mine…for more peace and prosperity.”

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized the EU-U.S. partnership beyond mere alliances, writing, “We are bound by a true partnership uniting 800 million citizens. So, let’s work together on a strong transatlantic agenda that keeps delivering for them.”
