Nargis Fakhri’s Sister Arrested For Double Murder In New York

NEW YORK, NY – Aliya Fakhri, sister of Rockstar-fame actor Nargis Fakhri, has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and arson in connection with a deadly fire in Queens. The November 2 blaze claimed the lives of Edward Jacobs, 35, her ex-boyfriend, and his friend Anastasia Ettienne, 33.

According to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz, Fakhri, 43, arrived at a two-story garage early in the morning and shouted, “You’re all going to die today” before allegedly setting the structure on fire. Jacobs, who lived upstairs, was sleeping at the time. Ettienne attempted to save him after being alerted to the fire but both succumbed to smoke inhalation and thermal injuries, Katz’s office confirmed.

“As alleged in this indictment, this defendant maliciously ended the lives of two people by setting a fire that trapped a man and woman in a raging inferno. The victims tragically died from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries,” Katz said in a statement.

A witness claimed Fakhri had previously threatened to burn Jacobs’ house down and described their relationship as abusive. Jacobs had reportedly ended the relationship about a year ago, but his mother, Janet, said Fakhri had struggled to accept the breakup. Janet also revealed that Jacobs, a plumber, had been working on a project to convert the garage into an apartment.

Aliya Fakhri’s mother defended her daughter, stating that Aliya was known for her caring nature and had struggled with opioid addiction after a dental mishap, which may have influenced her behavior.

Fakhri, who has been remanded in custody, faces a maximum life sentence if convicted. Her next court appearance is scheduled for December 9.

Actor Nargis Fakhri has not commented on the case.
