MUMBAI— Glamour, wealth, and exclusivity defined the wedding of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and media personality Lauren Sanchez this weekend in Venice—and among the star-studded guest list, one name stood out for India: Natasha Poonawalla.

The 43-year-old socialite and fashionista was reportedly the only Indian invited to the ultra-exclusive affair, which drew global attention not only for its opulent setting on the canals of Venice but also for its dazzling celebrity lineup. Ivanka Trump, Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Oprah Winfrey, and Bill Gates were among the high-profile names on the list.

Poonawalla’s inclusion was all the more striking given the absence of the usual Indian power player – the Ambanis.

Married to Adar Poonawalla, CEO of the Serum Institute of India—the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer—Natasha’s appearance in Venice comes on the heels of her husband’s major business move: acquiring a 50% stake in Bollywood director Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions for ₹1,000 crore.

Poonawalla had already made headlines earlier this summer when she attended Lauren Sanchez’s bachelorette party in Paris. At the Venice wedding, she turned heads with her fashion-forward look, accessorizing with a striking heart-shaped diamond necklace while skipping earrings and bracelets.
