Neil Nitin Mukesh: Anupam Kher Is My Guru

MUMBAI (ANI)- Neil Nitin Mukesh has carved a niche for himself in the industry over an 18-year career, showcasing his acting prowess in films like Johnny Gaddaar, New York, and Jail.

He credits much of his success to his mentor, veteran actor Anupam Kher, under whom he trained at Actor Prepares, Kher’s renowned acting school. On April 3, Neil revisited those memories while conducting a guest lecture for the institute’s students.

Reflecting on his journey, Neil expressed deep gratitude toward Kher, whom he regards as a father figure. “Anupam sir is very close to my family. He was my first Guru and will always be my Guru,” he shared.

Neil recalled that he was just 15 when he joined Actor Prepares as part of its first batch, which also included Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra, and Jugal Hansraj. “I was determined to be a part of it when I heard Anupam sir was opening his own academy. He gave me that chance, and learning from him has been a privilege,” he said.

Praising Kher’s versatility, Neil added, “He has played every kind of role, from comedy to villainous characters to family dramas. He truly is a chameleon, one of the finest actors not just in India but worldwide.”

Speaking about being invited to mentor students at Actor Prepares, Neil said, “It’s a great honor to be here today. I have learned so much from Anupam sir, and to share that knowledge feels very special.”

On the work front, Neil was last seen in the corruption-exposing drama Hisaab Barabar, released in January.
