Neil Nitin Mukesh Nervous About His Negative Character Portrayal

MUMBAI, (ANI) – Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, often recognized for his positive roles in Bollywood, takes a dark turn as the antagonist Mickey Mehta in Hisaab Barabar, which premiered at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) on November 26. Directed by Ashwni Dhir, the film explores corruption and systemic injustice through the gripping journey of a common man’s fight against financial fraud.

Reflecting on his foray into negative roles, Neil said, “I enjoy both positive and negative characters equally. I try to balance them as much as possible. Some films, like Players, had a very dark, edgy negative role for me. Sometimes, the character finds themselves in unavoidable situations, like in Johnny Gaddar, where despite not wanting to, the character does something wrong. And then there are characters like Mickey Mehta, who exist in society and believe that money is power, and power is everything.”

Describing his character, Neil added, “Mickey Mehta drives a corrupt system. The story follows the journey of Madhavan’s character and how he dismantles this corrupt world. Mickey is layered and fascinating, and this is the first time I’m playing such a role on the big screen, so I am a bit nervous.”

In Hisaab Barabar, R. Madhavan stars as Radhe Mohan Sharma, a diligent railway ticket checker who stumbles upon a small yet inexplicable discrepancy in his bank account. What begins as a minor issue soon unravels into a larger investigation, exposing a massive financial fraud masterminded by Mickey Mehta. As Radhe confronts systemic corruption, he also navigates personal challenges, realizing that relationships, unlike balance sheets, can’t always be balanced.
