MIAMISBURG, OH – Republican Niraj Antani announced on February 12 that he is suspending his campaign for Ohio Secretary of State in the 2026 election. His decision comes just a week after State Treasurer Robert Sprague, also a Republican entered the race, following his withdrawal from the gubernatorial contest on February 5.

“My team and I have taken the last week to evaluate this new dynamic,” Antani said. “Unfortunately, we see no path forward to victory with Treasurer Sprague in the race.”

Antani expressed disappointment but reaffirmed his commitment to challenging Ohio’s political establishment.

“While I am disappointed, I am not deterred,” he stated. “For the last decade, I’ve fought against the entrenched establishment who seek to protect the status quo. I will continue that fight.”

He also criticized the shifting landscape of Ohio politics, particularly Secretary of State Frank LaRose’s (a Republican too) decision to run for State Auditor and his subsequent endorsement exchange with Sprague

“It’s no surprise that on February 6, the current Secretary of State Frank LaRose, who came in last place in the primary in last year’s U.S. Senate race, announced a campaign for State Auditor,” Antani, a strong Trump supporter, said. “The day after that, on February 7, Secretary LaRose and Treasurer Sprague endorsed each other, finalizing the three-act play of the week.”

Taking aim at Ohio’s political maneuvering, Antani accused establishment politicians of treating the state’s executive offices as interchangeable positions.

“Unfortunately, this wasn’t a performance worthy of Broadway,” he remarked. “These recycled cookie-cutter, copy-paste politicians are playing musical chairs with Ohio’s constitutional executive offices.”
