‘Pathaan’ is the first Hindi film to gross $100 million without being released in China

Los Angeles (IANS) Shah Rukh Khan’s spy action film “Pathaan,” which has maintained its dominant run at international box offices, surpassed the global box office million dollar mark on Sunday, reaching it in just 12 days, according to “Deadline.”

And now with its earnings going up to $103.6 million through Monday. It’s the first Bollywood film to do so without a Chinese release, “Deadline” adds.

Through Monday, the split was Rs 526 gross crore ($64.2 million) in India and $39.4 million from overseas markets. Siddharth Anand’s directed film is the most successful Bollywood film ever in the original Hindi language.

As per ‘Deadline’, it is slightly confusing in terms of the records posted. Aamir Khan-starrers ‘Dangal’ and ‘Secret Superstar’, both Bollywood titles, remain ahead of ‘Pathaan‘ worldwide, but that includes more than $100 million each from China, where the movies were dubbed for local audiences.

Similar to how “Pathaan,” which stars Salman Khan, who is also in “Bajrangi Bhaijaan,” is still in the lead globally despite having a dubbed China release, The China window for “Pathaan” has not yet been announced.

According to ‘Deadline’, where box office earnings are measured in both gross and net figures, ‘Pathaan’ maker Yash Raj Films reports that the film’s Rs 438.5 crore net takings on Monday. Surpassed the net of the Hindi-dubbed version of the Yash-starrer ‘KGF 2’.

On a net basis, S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali 2’ comes in second with a Rs 510-crore ($61.7 million) lifetime collection in Hindi (the film was originally in Telugu).
