NEW DELHI—The inheritance battle over the vast estate of late businessman Sunjay Kapur has revealed new details in the Delhi High Court.

According to a report by News18, recently submitted documents, including WhatsApp conversations, suggest that Kapur was actively helping his ex-wife, actress Karisma Kapoor, and their children secure Portuguese citizenship, even years after their 2016 divorce.

Kapur’s children have filed a plea in the Delhi High Court seeking a share of their father’s estimated ₹30,000 crore estate. They allege that Kapur’s widow, Priya Sachdeva Kapur, presented a forged will under “suspicious circumstances.” Their lawyer noted that the will was unregistered and suddenly surfaced following Kapur’s death on June 12. The court issued a notice on September 10 and has set the next hearing for October 9.

Priya Kapur’s lawyer has contested these claims, stating that the plaintiffs have already received substantial benefits. “It’s not as if these people are left on the streets,” the advocate argued in court, adding, “I am a widow with a six-year-old child. For 15 years, they were nowhere to be seen.”

Rani Kapur, Sunjay’s mother, has also raised objections through her counsel, expressing concern for her grandchildren. “There’s something unholy going on…A trust set up by me has nothing for me?” she stated.

The court has directed Priya Kapur to provide a complete list of all of Sunjay’s properties. The new revelations about Kapur’s efforts to help his ex-wife and children with Portuguese citizenship add a new dimension to this high-profile inheritance dispute.
