CINCINNATI, OH -Despite a record-setting fundraising haul, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton is significantly trailing her Republican rival Vivek Ramaswamy in campaign contributions for the 2026 Ohio governor’s race.

Acton’s campaign announced July 30 that it has raised $1.35 million, with more than 17,000 individual donors and 90% of the nearly 33,000 total donations being $50 or less. According to her campaign, this marks a new fundraising record for a Democratic challenger for governor at this stage in the race. Campaign manager Philip Stein stated that Acton is “proud of the tens of thousands of small-dollar donations from grassroots supporters in all 88 counties” and is “excited to continue to bring people together.”

The campaign of Republican Vivek Ramaswamy meanwhile highlighted his own record-breaking contributions. A news release from his campaign indicated he has already raised $9.7 million, a figure that his campaign  “shattered all previous fundraising records for the year preceding a general election.”

Ramaswamy’s campaign strategist Jai Chabria dismissed Acton’s fundraising, calling it “cute.” Acton’s campaign, in turn, has alleged that Ramaswamy is “relying on ‘personal wealth and billionaire donors'” to fund his race.
