Saif Ali Khan Stable After Violent Attack At Mumbai Home, Police Investigating

MUMBAI– Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is stable and recovering after being attacked by an intruder at his Bandra residence in the early hours of January 16. The actor was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery for a thoracic spinal cord injury. Doctors confirmed that Saif Ali Khan is now “completely stable” and recovering well.

The attack occurred around 2 a.m. when an intruder entered the building, allegedly with the intent to commit burglary. The intruder confronted Saif’s maid and demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore. When the maid resisted, Saif Ali Khan intervened, leading to a physical confrontation. During the scuffle, Saif was stabbed six times, and a knife fragment lodged in his spine. It is unclear, but some reports say Saif’s son Ibrahim, rushed his father to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw, was instrumental in getting Saif immediate medical attention.

Family members, including Saif’s wife Kareena Kapoor Khan, sister Soha Ali Khan, and brother-in-law Kunal Kemmu, were seen at the hospital following the attack. Saif’s children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim, also visited their father to check on his condition. His mother Sharmila Tagore was also there.  

Kareena Kapoor Khan shared a statement on social media, thanking fans for their support and requesting privacy for the family during this challenging time. She urged the media to respect their boundaries and allow them space to heal.

Mumbai Police are actively investigating the incident. The attacker is believed to have entered the building via a fire escape and has been identified. Authorities are working to arrest the suspect, with 10 detection teams assigned to the case. Police sources have confirmed that the incident was an attempted robbery, and security footage from the building has been used to track the intruder’s movements. He was spotted in CCTV footage wearing a t-shirt and jeans, with an orange scarf on his shoulder.

The attack has raised questions about security measures at high-profile residences in Mumbai. Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, expressed concern over the incident, while opposition figures criticized the state government’s handling of safety in the city.
