ARTESIA, CA – The South Asian Network (SAN) hosted an engaging Candidate Forum at the Albert O. Little Community Center here, on October 18, bringing together residents from the district across the cities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Cypress, La Palma, Fullerton, Artesia, Cerritos, and Hawaiian Gardens. The event drew a diverse crowd eager to learn about the candidates competing to represent Assembly District 67, a multi-ethnic district encompassing parts of northern Orange County and southeast Los Angeles County.

The forum featured three candidates: Ada Briceño, Co-President of the Hotel Workers Union, Ali Taj, Mayor of Artesia, and Mark Pulido, Cerritos City Council Member. Each candidate addressed pointed questions about their qualifications, policy priorities, and plans for the district.

Pulido emphasized public safety, local economic growth, and small business development. Taj outlined a platform focused on education, affordable housing, and economic opportunity, while Briceño highlighted labor rights, livable wages, and access to healthcare.

Questions from attendees reflected the community’s concerns, from economic priorities and policy priorities to support for working families and vulnerable populations. The forum underscored the importance of informed voting in a diverse district, where decisions about education, housing, healthcare, and economic growth affect tens of thousands of residents.

By spotlighting candidates’ policies and plans, events like this empower voters in AD-67 to hold leaders accountable and shape the future of their communities, SAN pointed out.
