US Deports 54 Illegals, Most From Haryana, Back To India
India-West News Desk
NEW DELHI -Fifty-four men from Haryana, have been deported from the United States for allegedly entering the country through the “donkey route,” an illegal and often dangerous migration pathway. The deportees arrived at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and were received by Indian authorities before being handed over to their families, police officials confirmed October 26.
According to Haryana Police, the deported individuals include 16 from Karnal, 15 from Kaithal, five from Ambala, four each from Yamuna Nagar and Kurukshetra, three from Jind, two from Sonipat, and one each from Panchkula, Panipat, Rohtak, and Fatehabad. Most of the men are between 25 and 40 years of age.
Police told ANI that all 16 deportees from the district had entered the US via the illegal “donkey route.” They have now been reunited with their families. No complaints have been filed so far against any agent.
He added that police have initiated an investigation to verify the backgrounds of the deportees. “If any of them have a criminal record, it will come to light during the inquiry,” Kumar noted.
The deportations reflect a broader tightening of immigration enforcement under the Trump administration, which has stepped up efforts to remove individuals lacking valid documentation or legal grounds to remain in the US. This year alone, several hundred Indians have been deported as part of that crackdown. (with ANI inputs)
