Vanesha Hari of WA Awarded Congressional Medal
REDMOND, WA – Vanesha Hari, a 11th grader at Redmond High School, here has been awarded a US Congressional Gold Medal. The ceremony given by the U.S. Congress to youth was held online.
Vanesha was recognized for completing at least 400 hours of voluntary public service, 200 hours of personal development which included work related to robotics and violin, and 200 hours of physical fitness.
As a co-founder of a nonprofit initiative, she has taught 25+ STEM workshops over the last few years, especially for the underserved. With STEM she has volunteered over 800+ hours touching the lives of several young girls, a press release said.
Vanesha has said it was her mother who she first drew inspiration for service and now continues to gain inspiration from teachers and leaders she has met in the nonprofit organizations that she volunteers with.
Vanesha loves to travel, is a foodie, and hopes to major in a technology-related field in college.
