NEW YORK, NY – On September 4, Vivek Ramaswamy argued that abortion is no longer a presidential issue. In an interview with CNN’s Kate Bolduan, Ramaswamy defended Trump’s position, emphasizing that abortion should now be left to individual states.

Trump has often taken credit for the reversal of Roe v. Wade during his presidency, though he has avoided a clear stance on whether he would veto or approve a national abortion ban if it reached his desk.

Despite this, he recently claimed his administration would prioritize women’s reproductive rights, creating some ambiguity around his current position on abortion laws.

Women’s groups angry and fired up after the Supreme Court ruling, have been quick to point out his muddled stances.

“This is an issue for the states in a post-Dobbs world,” Ramaswamy declared, adding “Democrats want to make this a core issue, but the reality is, it’s not a presidential issue anymore.”

Ramaswamy addressed recent comments by Trump, who had criticized Florida’s six-week abortion ban as “too strict.” When pressed on whether Trump’s statements were inconsistent, Ramaswamy maintained that Trump does not support a federal abortion ban but believes the issue belongs to the states.
