SAN FRANCISCO -Ishan Shivanand, founder of Yoga of Immortals (YOI) and the mental health initiative Compassion Unites, has received a Gold Award at the 2026 Nautilus Book Awards for his memoir, ‘The Practice of Immortality.’
The book won in the Spirituality of Eastern Thought category.
Published in 2025, ‘The Practice of Immortality’ became a USA Today national bestseller and reached No. 1 on Amazon India shortly after its release. It is currently available in 15 countries and has been translated into seven languages.
In a statement released by Compassion Unites, Shivanand said rapid advances in artificial intelligence are creating new challenges for many leaders and professionals.
“Many executives built their careers in environments where experience was a dependable guide,” Shivanand said. “AI is changing the pace and shape of work so quickly that old playbooks don’t always hold. The result is a fatigue that comes from leading through a transformation they do not understand.”
He said leaders can navigate such periods of change by remaining grounded and maintaining clear judgment.
According to Compassion Unites, YOI’s meditation and breathwork protocols are used by more than 100,000 people daily and have been adopted by institutions including Google and Rutgers University.
The Nautilus recognition follows a Literary Titan Gold Book Award that Shivanand received in late 2025.
