Priyanka Chopra Jonas Says Hollywood’s Barriers Are Falling

LOS ANGELES-Actress and producer Priyanka Chopra Jonas says the barriers to entry in Hollywood are falling, creating new opportunities for aspiring filmmakers and storytellers.

Speaking at the Cannes Lions conference, Priyanka cited the low-budget horror hit ‘Obsession’ as an example of how talent can break through in today’s entertainment landscape, reports ‘Variety’.

“I feel like if you have an idea, shoot it, put it on YouTube, and it can become ‘Obsession,’ the movie that just came out,” she said.

“What a wonderful time to be an entertainer, to be in the entertainment business, because ideas are your currency,” she added.

According to ‘Variety’, Priyanka said the entertainment industry is becoming more accessible to creators with strong ideas, regardless of their background or industry connections.

The actress said she launched her production company to support emerging filmmakers with promising ideas who may lack access to opportunities.

She said the goal was to help “new filmmakers, or filmmakers who have great ideas but don’t have the ability to open doors that I may be able to open”.

Priyanka also credited streaming platforms and the pandemic with encouraging audiences to discover content from around the world, helping make global storytelling more accessible. (IANS)
