PALM SPRINGS, CA – Dr. Raj Shah, a scientist and director of Holtsville, New York-based Koehler Instrument Company, has received the National Lubricating Grease Institute’s Achievement Award, the organization’s highest individual honor.

The award was presented at NLGI’s annual meeting here and recognizes Shah’s contributions to grease technology and his nearly three decades of involvement with the organization.

Shah has served on NLGI’s board of directors and contributed to its technical committees, educational initiatives, editorial work and international outreach.

“Whatever I have contributed, I have learned far more from this community than I can ever give back,” Shah said in his acceptance remarks.

Over his career, Shah has authored or co-authored more than 850 publications and edited or co-edited six books on fuels, lubricants, greases, petroleum testing, tribology and analytical instrumentation.

His editorial contributions include the ‘NLGI Lubricating Grease Guide’ and the ‘ASTM Fuels and Lubricants Handbook.’ He has previously received NLGI’s Clarence E. Earle Memorial Award and Golden Grease Gun Award.

Shah has spent nearly three decades at Koehler, a manufacturer of laboratory instruments used in the petroleum, petrochemical, fuels and lubricants industries. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Stony Brook University.

He earned his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Penn State University after completing his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Mumbai.
