Ujjain Lights 33.27 Lakh Diyas For Modi, Claims World Record
UJJAIN/BHOPAL-Madhya Pradesh on September 17 witnessed the simultaneous lighting of 3.55 crore ‘Ashirwad Diyas’ across the state to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and launch the month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’.
The main celebration was held in Ujjain, where 33.27 lakh lamps were lit simultaneously at various locations, including the ghats along the Shipra River and the Mahakal Lok corridor, setting what officials described as a world record.
At 7 p.m., sirens signaled the start of the mass lighting, with more than 25,000 volunteers, devotees and citizens participating at Ramghat, Datt Akhada, Kedareshwar Ghat, Sunhari Ghat, Bhookhi Mata Ghat and Mahakal Lok.
“The lighting of lamps is a symbol of people’s affection, respect and gratitude for Prime Minister Modi’s 25 years of service to the nation and his contribution to nation-building,” Chief Minister Yadav said.
Yadav said the celebrations were aimed at taking the spirit of service and public participation across the state. (IANS)
