NEWARK, NJ – Abhishek Vijayakumar, 43, of Hasbrouck Heights, has pleaded guilty in federal court to accessing child sexual exploitation material involving a prepubescent minor, the U.S. Department of Justice said.

According to court documents, Vijayakumar knowingly accessed the material in March 2024. Investigators later found more than 200 images depicting children engaged in sexually explicit conduct on his electronic devices, including an image of an approximately 3-year-old child being sexually abused by an adult male.

Vijayakumar is scheduled to be sentenced January 6, 2027, and faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. A federal judge will determine the sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
