Payal Kapadia Joins Cannes Film Festival Jury
LOS ANGELES (IANS)- Indian filmmaker Payal Kapadia has been named a member of the jury for the upcoming 78th Cannes Film Festival, following her remarkable achievements at the prestigious event.
The Cannes Film Festival has assembled a distinguished jury for its 78th edition, which includes notable figures such as Halle Berry, Jeremy Strong, and Payal Kapadia, as reported by ‘Variety’. This diverse panel comprises a mix of actors, filmmakers, and authors, with South Korean filmmaker Hong Sangsoo, Italian actress Alba Rohrwacher, French-Moroccan writer Leila Slimani, Congolese director Dieudo Hamadi, and Mexican filmmaker Carlos Reygadas also joining the ranks.
As previously announced, Juliette Binoche will preside over the jury, succeeding Greta Gerwig, who awarded the Palme d’Or last year. Both Jeremy Strong and Payal Kapadia were present at Cannes in the previous edition, with their films in competition. Strong featured in Ali Abbasi’s ‘The Apprentice’, while Kapadia’s fiction debut, ‘All We Imagine as Light’, notably won the Grand Prize.
