NEW YORK, NY – The ‘Grand Indian Festival,’ to have been presented by the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) as part of India Weekend at the Lincoln Center here, may have become a casualty of the fraying ties between Washington and New Delhi. The event has been abruptly postponed just days before its opening, slated for September 12–14.

Organizers announced the delay, citing only “unforeseen circumstances,” without elaborating. But media observers note that large-scale international showcases—dependent on cross-border sponsorships, collaborations, and regulatory clearances—are often among the first to feel the impact when diplomatic relations are not at its best.

“It is with deep regret that we share that the NMACC India Weekend in New York, scheduled to open on September 12, 2025, has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances,” organizers said in a statement.

Nita Ambani, Founder & Chairperson of NMACC, stressed that the festival would return, “This is not a cancellation, only a pause, and we remain fully committed to bringing the NMACC experience to New York at a later date.”

Organizers also confirmed that ticket buyers would be fully refunded. “Since the new dates for the NMACC India Weekend in NYC are not yet finalized, we will be issuing full refunds to all ticket buyers. As we announce new dates, you will be able to purchase fresh tickets,” they added.

The Reliance group of companies, headed by Mukesh Ambani, is among the largest refiners of Russian oil. India, being a buyer, is a key sticking point with the Trump administration, which has slapped heavy tariffs on the nation.
