Police Say Gang Threat Fake, Created To Extort Salman Khan

MUMBAI-Mumbai Police have claimed to have busted an alleged extortion plot targeting actor Salman Khan, with the accused allegedly creating a fake identity and WhatsApp chats to make it appear that an organized crime gang was threatening the actor.

Police said their investigation found discrepancies in the WhatsApp chats, while CCTV footage failed to support the accused’s claims. During questioning, the accused admitted to fabricating the threat to scare Salman and extort money from him.

The investigation further revealed that the accused allegedly received around Rs 1.30 lakh from Siwan in Bihar through PhonePe and later collected the money in cash through a money transfer agent in Bandra.(IANS)
