WASHINGTON, D.C.-The Donald Trump administration has revoked approximately 80,000 non-immigrant visas since its January 20 inauguration, according to a senior State Department official speaking November 4 on condition of anonymity to Reuters.

These 80,000 revocations span various offenses. Specifically, roughly 16,000 were linked to driving under the influence (DUI) cases, about 12,000 for assault, and another 8,000 for theft.

The crackdown extends beyond criminal offenses. In August, a State Department spokesperson confirmed to Reuters that over 6,000 student visas were revoked due to overstays and law-breaking, including a minor number connected to “support for terrorism.” Furthermore, last month, the department revoked visas for at least six individuals based on their social media commentary regarding the assassination of activist Charlie Kirk.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated in May that he had revoked thousands of visas, including student visas, due to involvement in activities deemed contrary to US foreign policy objectives.
