WASHINGTON, DC – The Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) has released the eleventh episode of its ‘Spill the Tea with Chair Meng’ video series, featuring a conversation with Representative Suhas Subramanyam.
During the episode, the Virginia Democrat and Ranking Member of the Military and Foreign Affairs Oversight Subcommittee leveled sharp criticisms at the Trump administration, accusing the current leadership of jeopardizing American lives through opaque foreign policy and the mishandling of sensitive domestic data.
Addressing the administration’s escalating conflict with Iran, Subramanyam highlighted a significant lack of transparency and a departure from previous non-interventionist rhetoric. “They don’t really tell us what’s really going on. They don’t give us real justifications. They still haven’t told us what the imminent threat was to our country,” Subramanyam stated.
He further noted that his subcommittee has not met since last July, suggesting that the administration is avoiding scrutiny. “A lot of Republicans on the committee were talking over and over again last year about the dangers of getting into foreign wars and regime change, and how Trump is here to stop all of that. And he’s done the exact opposite,” he said.
The Representative also raised alarms regarding the DOGE, claiming that the influx of political outsiders has compromised the privacy of U.S. citizens. Subramanyam argued that while the President campaigned on dismantling a ‘deep state’ that spied on Americans, he has instead fostered a new system that enables data theft. “He brought in all these outsiders who used the contours of government and violated the trust of the American people. And it’s just really sad to see. Because now they’re taking our data,” Subramanyam remarked.
