ICC Rankings Update: Gill Climbs To No. 2; Bumrah Shares Top Test Bowling Spot

DUBAI – India opener Shubman Gill climbed to No. 2 in the latest ICC ODI batting rankings, while Jasprit Bumrah now shares the No. 1 spot in the Test bowling rankings with New Zealand pacer Matt Henry.

Gill gained three places after his recent performances and now trails only top-ranked Daryl Mitchell by 24 rating points in the ODI batting rankings. Fellow India batter Ishan Kishan also made significant progress, jumping 21 places to joint 43rd.

India’s bowlers also enjoyed notable gains following the completion of the ODI series against Afghanistan. Left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh rose 16 places to 22nd among ODI bowlers, while Prasidh Krishna surged 34 spots to joint 58th. All-rounder Washington Sundar climbed 17 places to joint 71st.

In the Test bowling rankings, Henry drew level with Bumrah at the top after his match-winning 11-wicket haul against England. Bumrah had held sole possession of the No. 1 ranking since overtaking South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada in November 2024.

Henry also became only the third New Zealander to reach the No. 1 ranking for Test bowlers, joining Jack Cowie and Richard Hadlee. (IANS)
