HOUSTON, TX – The Eternal Gandhi Museum Houston hosted a day-long workshop, ‘Nonviolence: An Eternal Power,’ on April 11, bringing together 45 participants for discussions on nonviolence as a personal discipline and a tool for social and environmental change.

Organized in partnership with the Metta Center for Nonviolence, the program was led by the center’s founder Michael Nagler and  educator-facilitator Amery Kessler. The sessions featured reflection, dialogue, and a screening of ‘The Third Harmony: Nonviolence and the New Story of Human Nature.’

Participants explored how courage, compassion, and human connection can function as constructive forms of power. Conversations also focused on responding to fear and anger through empathy and action, while building stronger and more just communities.

“This workshop created a meaningful shared experience for participants to reflect, engage, and connect around the practice of nonviolence,” Katherine Demsky said. “The work does not end here—what happens after, in how we apply these ideas in our daily lives and communities, is where the real impact begins.”

The museum’s programming draws inspiration from the life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, whose philosophy of nonviolence continues to influence peace and justice movements worldwide.
